Our Deutsch Drahthaar Breeding Philosophy
We are proud to embrace the high standards of selective breeding established and cultivated by the German founding fathers over the past 125 years. Our philosophy with our German Drathaars is to breed only when it serves to further the kennel’s gene pool toward our ultimate breeding objective, and not simply to supply these versatile hunting puppies to anxious buyers.
By virture of a Drahthaar pup’s birthright it should excel naturally at pointing, retrieving in the field and water, and blood tracking on leash any wounded big game animal. Disposition, performance, and coat and conformation are the three primary points on which we focus when making our breeding decisions.
We breed our hunting dogs with care, raise our puppies with love, train the youngsters with patience, and ultimately hunt our finished companions with pride. For that is our primary objective; to breed a hunting dog/family pet that is intelligent, cooperative, and genetically predisposed to point, retrieve, and track in the field, forest, and in water – in other words . . . .

9 beautiful, healthy and very strong puppies. Puppies doing well. Rachael and “Nana” are exhausted. Litter details later, but I am pleased to say I don’t think anyone on the reservation list will be disappointed!

FANTASTIC NEWS TO REPORT. 3 OF THE S LITTER DOGS WERE RUN IN THE 2016 INTERNATIONAL ARMBRUSTER ZUCHTPRUFUNG IN WILMINGTON, ILLINOIS. WE ARE FULL OF PRIDE TO REPORT THAT:
SASCHA vom TAPFEREN HERZEN, owned, trained and handled by Clint Mason, scored a whopping 206.5 points, tied for 2nd, and was placed 3rd due to the younger dog rule. He scored 12 nose, 11 search, 11 point, 10 coop, 11 desire, 12 duck search, 10 blind ret, 10 fur drag, 10 feather drag, 9 manner of ret, 10 obed. F 11 /H 10 TOTAL 206.5 Sascha was in the top 5 dogs for Best Looking Male Dog at the Breed Show. Sascha was also in the running for Best Water Dog. AN UNBELIEVABLE PERFORMANCE BY BOTH ‘SONNY’ AND CLINT.
STEFFIE vom TAPFEREN HERZEN, owned, trained and handled by Kerry Moore, also had a tremendous test. She scored 11 nose, 11 search, 10 point, 10 coop, 11 desire, 11 duck search, 10 blind ret, 10 fur drag, 10 feather drag, 10 manner of ret, 10 obed. F 11 / H 10 TOTAL 199.5 Steffie was also in the top 5 dogs for Best Looking Female. TOTALLY AWESOME JOB BY STEFFIE AND KERRY.
SIGMUND vom TAPFEREN HERZEN, owned, trained and handled by Logan Duke, another fanstasic performance. He scored 10 nose, 9 search, 10 point, 10 coope, 10 desire, 12 duck search, 10 blind ret, 10 fur drag, 9 feather drag, 9 manner of ret, 10 obed. F 10/ H 9 TOTAL 191.5 Sigmund, aka “Bodhi”, was also in the running for Best Water Dog.
