We like to place our
puppies with hunters who intend to include the pup as a member of
the family, and provide a safe and loving environment for the dog.
Our puppies will not be sold to homes where they will be relegated
strictly to a kennel! We also ask that people commit to becoming a
member of the Verein Deutsch Drahthaar (VDD) Organization -Group
North America, and to participate with the puppy in at least the initial two tests
within this group: The natural ability test (VJP) and the fall test
(HZP). We will provide assistance to all owners and their dogs in
preparation for these tests.
Our puppies are guaranteed to be healthy and
trainable, with strong natural pointing instincts, a propensity to
retrieve and track both in the field and water, and to function
equally well in the forest. If the owner of a young dog from our
kennel believes he or she cannot achieve his expectations with his dog, we
will buy the dog back. The purchase contract will stipulate that the
new owner is not to sell the dog to a third party unless the Kennel
has been given the opportunity to exercise its right of first
refusal.
We will select the puppies for their new
owners to ensur
e the best possible match between the puppy and the
new owner's expectations, family setting, and regional environment.
For this reason, we encourage people to visit the kennel and become
familiar with our dogs whenever possible. We will select the pup for
you based upon the information you provide, and by applying our
knowledge of dog handling, raising puppies, and matching pups with
new families. Our experience has proven this is the best way to
ensure a match that will last the dog's lifetime.
After a new owner has been successfully
matched with one of our puppies, we encourage them to communicate
with us during all phases of the pup’s development or training. We
welcome the opportunity to help a family raise their pup to achieve
its full potential as a fine versatile hunting dog and family pet.
We
normally average one litter every 12 to 18 months.
